What if we gave an election and the Pres wouldn't leave

Has anyone given any thought to this? They've done away with habeas corpus, given the President the authority to federalize the National Guard, enacted all sorts of spying legislation, taken away or reduced the right of free speech, allow taxation without representation (in DC), mandate what children will learn, totally trashed the economy, etc.

What will we do on Inauguration Day, if Bush simply says "No, I won't go!" ? He's the Commander-in-Chief of the world's most powerful military machine, with unprecedented power having been vested in the Executive Branch. He has the power to suspend free speech in the name of security. We know he can suspend all types of travel if he declares martial law.

The various intelligence agencies are busily compiling dossiers on all of us as we ponder whether to buy that SUV, now thaat they are going to get much cheaper. They are monitoring our telephone calls, our email, what we read in our libraries, and what we do online. They encourage people to inform on their neighbors, with the promise of rewards. If all of this seems eerily familiar, think Russia under Kruschev and his successors. Comply or we will send you to the Gulag (Guantanamo). Or one of the other more secret prisons.

Don't look at this piece and write it off as liberal claptrap. I voted for the man in both elections. I have been a conservative all of my life. But the time has come to say, in the inimitable words of Paddy Chayevski, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

I can't honestly tell you to vote for Obama, because I believe he is totally unqualified for the job. Hilary is no better, while McCain is simply a Bush semi-clone. There would be little or no change with any of them. The Presidency has become nothing but a home for political hacks. Unfortunately that is true of the Legislative and Judicial branches also.

The only possible solution I see is to vote for whomever you please for President, but vote as many incumbents out of office as you can. We must elect a Congress that will quit worrying about getting re-elected and do what is right for the country. So vote in your primaries and in the regular elkection. Be sure to determine which choice is the incumbent and vote against him/'her.; Take our country back!
